well, I have been trying to finish random stuff around here.  I have a few more spindles done, which I have taken some pics of.  I also finished my fish up.  He is a lot bigger than I thought he would be.  He just seemed to keep growing as I was making him.  I also used the knitter to finish up my ugly face jug man.  I am going to needle felt a few birds for his hair.   The baby bunnies are doing pretty good.  They are looking more like bunnies every day, and it is weird how their ears are growing each day too.

Hi Blog.  Well, I was trying to get some new spindles on here and I have them all done.  One of them ended up in an unfortunate accident : ).  My husband thought it looked like Harry Potter's wand and was waving it about until he whacked it into the table and broke it!  Then he had to go down to the dungeon workshop and fix it!  Seems like it fixed up pretty well, as it is spinning nicely again.  I was going to list them last night, but we had our first batch of baby bunnies!  The mom did really good, but it took her a while and made me fairly nervous!

Anyway, here are some pics.  The spindles are mostly french this week, as I was still testing out that design.  The birdseye ones seem to spin really well, and I am having fun with the inlay.  The other one is based upon an antique one that I have.  I made it up of 4 pieces of junk wood that we had around, and did a small inlay too.  The Victorian spindle is a really cool piece of redheart that was plain brown until I started turning it and then it popped out in a lovely red.


The bunnies are english angora babies.  The mom is a harlequin and the dad is a lilac tort.  No clue how she will be at taking care of them, as this is her first batch, but so far so good.

I am going to try this once again : ).  I have one more thingie to post that is not quite a spindle.  It is the beginning of a knitting spool, or corker.  I have to add the pegs yet, but then it will be done.  I have to finish making up some dread locks for one of my hooked people and needed a knitting spool.  Hopefully, I can post a pic of the finished work later this week too
This knitting spool is yellowheart, with katalox on the bottom, and bocote in the center.  The inlay is turquoise.  I like the combination of them all together.

Hi.  It seems I can't quite figure out how to post a picture.  Oh well.  I have been trying and it is getting really frustrating.  Anyway, I do have several spindles to add.  Once I can figure out how to run this thing : )
I have made a nice olivewood spindle with a lapis inlay.  I made the inlay from some lapis beads I found, and I liked it with the olivewood.  Olivewood is fun to turn.  I will try to pop the picture on again.

Birdseye maple french supported spindle with turquoise inlay

Hi.  This blog is for Miss Lucy P's spindles.  I am going to try to post a spindle a day.  That means I will have to make a spindle a day so this will keep me motivated. 
The first spindle is one I actually made yesterday.  Oh well.  I do have another for today but it isn't quite done yet so I will put it on tomorrow
This spindle is an experimental one.  It is a French style supported spindle with a swarovski crystal in the tip.  I like the crystal tips because they sparkle and don't wear down. 
I made the inlay by crushing up some of my old turquoise beads.  When I was a kid I loved to crush rocks.  My parents should have given up on trying to make me into a Doctor.  I mean, I wanted to work like Fred Flintstone did at a gravel pit.  I used to set up a rock crushing station on a big flat granite boulder and I just loved all the weird colors that came out of the rocks.  This was when I was 4 or 5.  When I got a bit older I would collect rocks and then try to figure out what kind they were.  I did this with mushrooms too LOL. 
Anyway, I have a lot of beads and stones around as I am a bit of a pack rat too.

Here is a picture of todays daily spindle.  Birdseye maple with a nice old arizona turquoise inlay.  Probably not sleeping beauty, but somewhere around there.  Aurora borealis swarovski crystal in the tip.  Tomorrow will be another French spindle.  We also make tibetan, russian and top whorl.
